The organ was not seriously damaged by the flying bomb, but although protected from the elements with
sheeting it was damaged by vandals and thieves. It was replaced in 1947 with a second-hand organ, but
in November 1949 this was destroyed by fire in suspicious circumstances.
Once the restoration of the building had been completed, a replacement organ, which is still in
use, was installed. The photograph below shows Christ Church's then organist, Neil Sissons,
at the organ in March 1996.
